The rise in smartphone technology and their popularity has made it easier than ever before to stay connected via text, email, phone calls, and social media. But as many staggering statistics will tell you, full-time connectivity can come at a catastrophic cost. Statistics have shown that eleven teens die every day as a result of texting while driving, and that 21% of teen drivers who were involved in fatal accidents were distracted by their cellphones. Further, recent stats inform us that one in every four car accidents in the United States is caused by texting while driving.

While these facts and figures paint a picture that is without a doubt disconcerting, here at Honda Cars of McKinney we can only hope that with continued education, cell phone use while driving can become a thing of the past.

That's why we were particularly excited to see that Honda continues to be an advocate for safe and undistracted driving. And while statistics often focus on teen drivers, as they are the most at risk, we could all probably benefit from an extra reminder every once in a while to keep our eyes on the road, no matter what age we are. We encourage everyone who drives to consider taking Honda up on its challenge: set one of the following background as your lock screen on your phone and stay safe out there.
